COLTON SUGAR CANE SOILS MAPPING

This is a link to the area of soils at Colton identified under the Wide Bay Burnett Agricultural Audit 2014.

WBB AG AUDIT POTENTIAL SUGAR CANE

This audit was undertaken to support the policy of the Newman government to double agricultural production in the Fraser Coast region.

The area of soils identified by the audit as suitable for irrigated sugar cane is incorrect and has been identified for political purposes.

This map  QDNRM MAP A23236 is what the Maryborough Sugar Factory found concerning the Colton area soils suitability for irrigated sugar cane.

It has been confirmed by the Member for Maryborough that MSF is seeking to expand  rainfed sugar cane production for ethanol , via 3-4000ha of land at the Colton USL sites.
